Cash Stop opened its first store in Petersham, NSW, in 2000, and from that one store grew to nearly 40 stores across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
As the business grew, so did what we offered. Pawnbroking arrived in the late 2000s, giving customers another way to access cash using items they already own, and foreign currency exchange followed for travellers heading overseas.
In 2020, Cash Stop became part of the Commit Co group. Since then we've focused on the communities we know best. Today Cash Stop lends online across Australia and has five branches across Sydney, in Bankstown, Fairfield, Ingleburn, Parramatta and St Marys. Many of our branches have served the same neighbourhoods for more than a decade, and our staff often know their customers by name.

In Petersham, NSW, where our first store opened in 2000. As the business grew, pawnbroking and foreign currency exchange were added alongside our loans, and today we serve customers online right across Australia, as well as through our five Sydney branches.
Online and in store, we offer small cash loans from $200 to $2,000 and personal loans from $2,100 to $8,000.¹ Our branches add pawnbroking, gold buying and selling, and foreign currency exchange, and our official eBay store sells pre-owned jewellery, electronics and more from our stores, delivered Australia-wide.
We've been helping Australians since 2000, and we still treat every customer as a real person, not a credit score. Our costs are published in full before you apply, every approval is made by a person on our lending team,¹ and you can apply online from anywhere in Australia or talk to us in one of our five Sydney branches. You can apply if you're 18 or over, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and you receive a regular income. Centrelink payments count as income. Each application is assessed on what you can afford, so meeting these basics doesn't guarantee approval.¹ Our How It Works page lists what to have ready before you start.
Our part: as a licensed lender, we must make reasonable inquiries about your finances, verify what you tell us, and only offer a loan that suits your needs and that you can repay without substantial hardship. For small loans, your repayments on all small loans combined must stay within 10% of your after-tax income. If a loan isn't right for you, we'll say so.
Your part: give us complete and accurate details of your income, expenses and other debts, borrow only what you need and can comfortably repay, and read your contract and our Credit Guide before you sign. If your situation changes and repayments start to feel tight, contact us early so we can work through your options together.
