Short-term borrowing from $200 to $2,000
A small cash loan is a short-term loan of $2,000 or less, repaid in instalments over 2 to 12 months. Under Australian law these are called small amount credit contracts, and they come with their own rules on what lenders can charge and how much of your income can go towards repayments.
Made for one-off costs, not everyday bills. A small loan can bridge the gap when something unexpected comes up, like a car repair, a dental bill or a broken fridge. It isn't designed to cover rent, groceries or other regular living costs. If those are getting hard to keep up with, please contact us so we can talk through your options.
We assess each application on your income today and whether the repayments fit your budget, so a past credit problem doesn't automatically rule you out.¹ See how it works.
From application to cash in five simple steps
To apply you'll need to be at least 18, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and receiving a regular income - including Centrelink payments. Have your phone, ID and bank details handy and you're ready to go.
Tell us how much you'd like to borrow and a few details about yourself. For most users, the form takes just a few minutes to complete from any device - there's no paperwork to print, sign or scan.
Securely share your bank statements online in seconds using our trusted, bank-grade verification partner. It's safe, read-only and saves you digging through paperwork - so we can assess your application faster.
We assess your application quickly and fairly. We check that the loan is suitable for you, meaning it meets your needs and objectives, and that you can afford the repayments on your current income without hardship. In most cases we can give you a decision the same day you apply.
Once you accept your contract, we transfer the funds straight to your bank account - usually within 30 minutes via NPP instant transfer.** Then it's yours to use for whatever you need.

Small loan fees are capped by law, and ours are set out in full before you sign. There are just two, both worked out on the amount you borrow:
No interest is charged, so there's no APR. For example, a $500 small loan over 3 months has fees of $160 (1 x $100 + 3 x $20), so you'd repay $660 in total.
Borrow what you need, and no more. Because the fees are a percentage of the loan, a smaller amount over a shorter term costs less. Check the example costs below before you choose your amount.

Small loans come with extra protections under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act. Before we lend, we have to:
Repayments that work with your pay. Your repayments are set up as automatic direct debits matched to your pay cycle, so the money comes out after you've been paid, not before.

A small loan is designed for one-off costs, such as a car repair, a medical or dental bill, or replacing an essential appliance. It isn't designed to cover ongoing living expenses like rent, groceries or regular bills.
Fees are a one-off 20% establishment fee plus a 4% monthly fee. On $1,000 that's $200 up front and $40 a month. Over 3 months you'd pay $320 in fees and repay $1,320 in total. Over 6 months you'd pay $440 in fees and repay $1,440. The shorter the term, the less it costs.
You can borrow as little as $200. Because our fees are worked out on the amount you borrow, a smaller loan costs less, so it's worth choosing the lowest amount that covers what you need.
Yes, it is possible. Centrelink payments are considered as income when we assess your application.¹ Your repayments on all small loans combined must stay within 10% of your after-tax income. Cash Stop is a private lender and isn't connected to Centrelink or Services Australia. If you receive Centrelink, you may also be able to ask Services Australia for an advance payment of your benefit, with no interest or fees.
Possibly. There's no credit check for small loans up to $2,000. We focus on your current income and whether you can comfortably afford the repayments, so a past credit problem doesn't automatically mean no.¹ Being behind on another small loan right now, or having had two or more small loans in the last 90 days, makes approval much less likely.
Possibly. Cash Stop is a responsible lender, so we'll only offer you another small loan if it suits your situation and you can afford it alongside any loans you already have. Your repayments on all small loans combined must stay within 10% of your after-tax income, so borrowing doesn't take too much of your pay. We'll look at your current loans as part of your assessment, and it's often best to finish one loan before starting another.
Yes, you can pay your loan out early at any time, and there's no early repayment fee. For a payout figure, call Online Loans on 1300 762 261 for an online loan, or Branch Services on 1300 644 957 for an in-store loan. Because the monthly fee is charged for each month your loan runs, paying out early means you pay fewer monthly fees.
Call us as soon as you know a payment will be missed. The sooner we hear from you, the sooner we can work with you on a plan. By law, the most you can be asked to repay on a small loan, including any default charges, is twice the amount you borrowed.
It's always worth weighing up your options. For essentials, you may be eligible for a No Interest Loan (NILS), a Centrelink advance payment, or a payment plan with your energy, phone or water provider.
